SYRACUSE, NEW YORK, August 22, 2018 – Hofmann Sausage Company has joined with NYS Maple Association to create a maple syrup-infused link sausage for The Great New York State Fair. The maple breakfast sausage will be a six-to-one-pound (6/1) size – about the size of a standard hot dog. It has been approved for sale in the Horticulture Building at the NYS Maple booth. The cost is $3 for a Hofmann Maple Sausage link on a bun. Later, the maple breakfast sausage will become a regularly produced Hofmann food service item after it receives USDA approval, although the size will change to more of a traditional breakfast sausage link (1.5oz).
The fair begins August 22nd and runs through Labor Day, September 3rd and will be held at 581 State Fair Boulevard, Syracuse, New York. There will be an estimated 1,100,000 visitors to the fair this year. The Great New York State Fair is the oldest and one of the largest state fairs in the United States.
“This sausage will be a must have at the fair this year,” said Pat Favalo, Hofmann Sausage Company Taste Team Member and the individual who spearheaded the project. “It is just so incredibly good. We love taking what we know about making sausage and creating something new but staying true to our tradition of using quality meat and spices. This item is mildly spiced and slightly sweet.”
